MIA Anytime

This is an open call for application submissions to the annual MIA Art Collection Fellowship: MIA Anytime

Female-identifying artists everywhere face countless challenges in and out of the art world. MIA Art Collection’s mission has been to increase the visibility of female artists everywhere. Our founder, Alejandra Castro Rioseco, has made it our defining characteristic to exclusively collect and promote female artists. We are delighted to finally announce the launch of our annual fellowship program: MIA anywhere.

For the duration of this program, MIA Art Collection will provide mentorship, career development and economic support for the fellow. The artist will meet and work with our professional team as mentors for the duration of the fellowship. Our multidisciplinary team, of curators, art historians and art professionals, will build a plan to increase the visibility and sales of the artist’s work, as well as build an international network to explore diverse opportunities to exhibit the artist’s work. The plan will include a touring schedule which will consist of three exhibitions in three galleries around the world.

MIA Art Collection will cover the costs of airfare and international exhibitions, as well as provide a stipend for housing and meals abroad for events planned for the fellowship.

Fellowship Guidelines

Prerequisites

This fellowship is an open call to all female-identifying artists of over 25 years of age. Although it is encouraged to apply with a formal background in the arts as well as work dealing with issues of gender, all female-identifying artist applications will be accepted and read.

Mentorship

Regular meetings with the mentorship team throughout the fellowship are required, either in-person or virtually.

Project Documentation

Progress updates, via social media, blogs, etc., are required to be posted after each progress meeting with the fellow’s mentoring team.

Fellowship projects and progress will be featured on the MIA Art Collection website and social media, with a fellow’s bio, images, and videos. These materials must be provided throughout the fellowship.

Final online documentation of fellowship projects is required.

Documentation can take many forms and we are open to what fits best for the work.

Exhibitions

The artist must be present throughout all three exhibition processes.

Wrap-Up

At the culmination of the fellowship, the fellow must produce a written account (approximately 750 words) of their work for the MIA Art Collection. The fellow will work directly with their mentors, either to be interviewed, or to write an article in their own words.
