MIA Anywhere virtual museum, the virtual museum of the MIA Art Collection founded by philanthropist Alejandra Castro Rioseco, is happy to present its virtual exhibition called ‘Not only to watch, but to look’, curated by MIA Curator Virtus del Hoyo, that shows the work of Spanish artist Paloma Navares.

Paloma Navares (Burgos, Spain. 1947) is a multidisciplinary plastic artist and activist. She develops a work with a gender perspective since the beginning of her career, which lead her to participate in various group exhibitions in Europe where gender perspective took root.

Paloma Navares demands an active spectator, capable of perceiving the significance of her work. As she explains, beauty attracts the visitor, and once enthralled, she releases her message uncompromising, committed and at times, difficult to assimilate, captivate through the beauty that force you to look.

Paloma’s selection of works is made in relation with the flowers. Her career that develops in parallel to her vital perspective, from the visual problem that marked her childhood, her experiences as a woman artist, being forced to stop due to medical interventions and of course, her research and practice that has led her to build a consistent and universal work.

‘Not only watch, but to look’ is available from Monday 2nd August until Monday 16th, August 2021. Go to miaanywhere.com to experience this virtual exhibition, and to know more about the MIA Art Collection, go to miaartcollection.com or follow us on Instagram.com/miaartcollection.
