MIA Residency: A New Chapter Honoring the Legacy of Women Artists

As the year draws to an end, MIA Art Collection proudly announces the launch of MIA Residency, a new international program that will open its doors in Antwerp, Belgium.

Conceived for a select group of artists, this residency seeks to foster rigorous study, critical reflection and creative documentation of the historical role of women artists, with the aim of expanding and reframing the narratives that have long shaped the art world. By placing particular emphasis on the Flanders region during the 15th to 18th centuries, the residency invites participants to engage with a period of exceptional yet often underrecognized female artistic production, encouraging a deeper understanding of the cultural forces that shaped these women’s lives and legacies.

MIA Residency is founded on the conviction that art and education are essential catalysts for the growth and evolution of any society. Through research, dialogue and creation, the program aspires to illuminate the enduring impact of women artists, while empowering contemporary voices to continue this lineage of innovation and resilience. Guided by the belief that to change the role of a woman is to change the world, MIA Art Collection reaffirms its mission to promote visibility, knowledge and cultural advancement through initiatives that honor the past while inspiring the future.
