The private art collection MIA ART COLLECTION has decided to start its activities in the city of Madrid 2023 , the focus as always is the visibility to women artists in the art world. MIA ART COLLECTION has several projects throughout the world that we will replicate in Madrid such as residences, scholarships, exhibitions, among other initiatives.
On 21 February, it held its first gala in Spain, a presentation party, at the emblematic Hotel Palace in the capital. This was orchestrated by the creator of the collection, Alejandra Castro Rioseco, who was supported by friends collectors, personalities from the world of politics and society and major luxury brands.
At half past eight in the afternoon the dozens of guests began to arrive, who came to show their full support for the project. Attendees enjoyed a cocktail and an exquisite dinner.
During the same they could hear Castro tell how the initiative arose and how it arrives in Madrid, in order to promote the work of women artists, claiming the space that corresponds to them.
Her philanthropic and collector’s vision led her to create more than twelve years ago the collection where he shows the ideas of women in a globalized world, taking into account the different realities they live.
She also recalled the low percentage of women’s works exhibited in museums and that their works continue to be sold for less. To cope with this data, she has nine hundred artists. Its collection seeks to make women visible in their expression within contemporary art and to publicize their way of seeing the world.
She also called artists, curators, collectors and project partners to the stage, showing how women go further when they work hand in hand.
After dinner, all the guests could see the Swiss artist Serena Maisto create live ‘The Bright Evening of MIA’ (21,000 euros).
