MIA Art Collection in Egypt: In an effort to expand our female-only art collection, our director Alejandra Castro Rioseco has traveled exclusively to Egypt with a group of collector friends.
We visited the Art D’Egypt Art fair, which is the largest and most prestigious art fair in the country. This is an annual art fair in Cairo and has more than 100 artists, of which her director Nadine Abdel Ghaffar and more than 50 artists are women. All these elements make up a wonderful project that MIA Art Collections has decided to support.
MIA’s plan is to incorporate Egyptian artists into our collection, and as a matter of fact, some artworks have already been acquired on this trip. Alejandra Castro Rioseco knows the tremendous talent and the enormous number of female artists in Egypt who today, more than ever, need a window to the world.
The creation of alliance and joint projects will allow female artists from Egypt to have a presence in other countries in the Americas and Europe.
The power of women when they support each other is Alejandra’s motto that has been transmitted to women who are leading the art world, and this trip has shown it.
