.SERENDIPITY Art Exhibition by MIA Art Collection

Serendipity or “the magic of finding something while looking for something else”, a simple and wonderful word that has its origin in the Arabic vocabulary, opens our eyes away from an immediate reality to a possible dream still concealed.

The exhibition “.SERENDIPITY” is an exhibition of exclusively women art of the Middle East, in the prominent Al Safa Design & Arts Library in Dubai.

Curated by the MIA Art Collection team under direction of the founder Alejandra Castro Rioseco, SERENDIPITY is a journey across more than 30 works of art of over 10 countries in the Middle East region, each work carefully selected for their value and thematic relationship to reflect the viewpoint of MIA ART Collection of respect and admiration for women artists, their work and their trajectory.

Each artwork tells a different story. Each artwork in its proper way relates to the value of being a woman in the arts. The artists across generations include Shirin Neshat, Effat Nagui, Azza Al Qubaisi, Lulwah Al Homoud and Nayla Romanos Iliya, to name a few.

The exhibition “.SERENDIPITY” has been created to connect with and rejoice the 50th Anniversary of the United Arab Emirates, celebrating its welcoming and integration of world cultures through art.

On March 10th at the MIA Art Collection Gala Dinner & Awards, in collaboration with BULGARI, ten personalities received the prestigious MIA Award as a recognition for their distinguished effort in supporting women visibility in the world of art.

.SERENDIPITY official opening Ceremony opened on March 8th on the International Women´s Day and was open to the public until March 31st at the Al Safa Design & Arts Library.

Levitating in the Salon

MIA Anywhere
Presents
Levitating in the Salon
On http://www.miaanywhere.com/
24/01/2021 – 07/02/2021

Levitating in the Salon refers to exploring an alternative world ungoverned by the laws that bind us to reality, a world beyond the laws of physics or society’s many unwritten rules. Levitating immerses us in the magical and occasionally risky realm of dreams and visions foreign to a comfortable salon. In the context of 2020 and 2021, amidst the coronavirus pandemic where “quarantine” and “isolation” have become part of our vernacular, many have realized that physical boundaries cannot restrain their creative spirits.
