Inside the ‘Route of the Invisibles’ exhibition

MIA Art Collection. Presents “Route of the Invisibles”. a new invitation to discover more about women’s art. This beautiful and intimate exhibition, curated and prepared by MIA Art Collection, speaks to the daily situation faced by hundreds of artists and their struggle to be visible:

The Route of the Invisibles is a visionary project by MIA Art Collection, founded by Alejandra Castro Rioseco, dedicated to unveiling the extraordinary talent of women artists who, despite their artistic mastery, remain unseen by the wider art world. This initiative focuses on four young artists who have lived in the United Arab Emirates but do not yet have gallery representation. Through a curated journey, these artists will present their works, bringing to light the intricate relationship between art, the female experience, and the power of visibility.

MIA Art Collection has always championed the cause of women artists worldwide, and this project embodies its mission to empower creativity, celebrate expression, and elevate artistic voices that deserve global recognition. Route of the Invisibles is not just an exhibition, it is a statement, a movement, and an artistic revelation.

A central theme of this project is transformation, resilience, and evolution—ideas symbolized throughout history in various artistic and cultural traditions. The project aims to illuminate the unseen, shedding old constraints in favor of renewal and self-realization.

The artists featured in the project are: Rima Moukahal, Farnaz Farid, Kasia Dzikowska, and Stefania Nazzal.

Each of these emerging talents embodies key aspects of artistic transformation:

Metamorphosis: The continuous evolution of the artist, from obscurity to recognition, mirrors the journey of growth and renewal.
Resilience: The unwavering dedication of these women artists, who have persevered despite being unseen, reflects strength and adaptability.
Seduction of the Senses: Art has the power to entice, engage, and draw viewers into a world of intricate craftsmanship and emotion.
Timeless Power: Just as powerful artistic symbols have endured through history, these artists’ works stand as lasting testaments to their creativity and ingenuity.

Stefania Nazzal (b. 1976) is a Swiss artist who lives and works in Dubai. Nazzal trained at the Cyprus Academy of Art and at Central Saint Martins in London. Working in mixed media, Nazzal is interested in how the dispersion and diffusion of light can create dreamlike and often paradoxical compositions through a meticulous creative process. She had a solo exhibition at LA-based Art Angels Gallery and has had solo presentations in Art Miami, Accessible Art Fair, Brussels, Mandarin Oriental, Florida and Park House, Dallas. She has been part of a group show at Christopher Martin Gallery and charity events such as: CREAID Master of Interior, Athens, GOSH Foundation, London, Dream Ball, Abu Dhabi, Reload Foundation, Geneva, and Al Jalila Foundation, Dubai.

Rima Moukahal is an abstract expressionist artist whose practice delves into the depths of human emotion and experience. Her artistic journey began early with a scholarship to study drawing in Italy, igniting a lifelong fascination with color and painting. However, the civil war in Lebanon paused her aspirations for nearly two decades. After a lengthy career in the corporate sector, Moukahal returned to her passion for art, driven by an insatiable quest for knowledge and creativity. Guided by prominent Arab artists, she cultivated her unique voice, focusing on the emotional and psychological dimensions of collective human experiences. Moukahal based in Dubai and practicing art in her studio since 2018.

Farnaz Farid is a self-taught artist and ceramist , born in Iran, currently living in Dubai. She studied Geology, she brings a unique perspective to her art , blending scientific understanding with creative intuition. Her work, inspired by the words of Rumi, embodies a deep reverence for love, believing in its transformative power to bring people together. Driven by a profound connection to color and form, she creates with intention, striving to infuse each piece with warmth and meaning. Through her artistic journey, Farnaz continually explores new mediums and techniques, channeling her passion for colors and love of nature into every creation.

Kasia Dzikowska is a Polish artist based in Abu Dhabi, where she works as an assistant professor at Zayed University in the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises. She holds an MFA in Multimedia from the University of Radom, Poland. Her practice investigates themes of connections with spaces, objects, and feelings. Dzikowska has exhibited internationally across UAE, USA, Europe and the UK, participating in major events such as the Sikka Art Festival in Dubai and the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival, where she won First Place for her series ‘Notice Me.’

Long-term examination and gentle interaction with subjects are the precursors in her creative process, which uses a variety of media such as painting, mixed media, digital graphics, and installation.
Through layering, colors, and textures, she creates visual narratives that oscillate between transparency and opacity, offering introspection and dialogue on cultural identity and memory. Dzikowska draws inspiration from artists Hassan Sharif, Apoloniusz Weglowski, and Alberto Di Fabio, whose reflective connections to the subject matter resonate in her work.
